You will need to use -c and reference a config file to run in NIDS mode.

Hello All, I am a Noob here, I have installed snort on the computer and run in, it is apparently in packet dump mode, and constantly generates the message: “no preprocessors configured for policy 0 “ , how would I go about fixing this message?
