I've been meaning to but just haven't had the time.

At this site  http://www.itknowledge.com/tpj/issues/vol4_3/ewtoc.html is an
article on how to turn a perl program into an nt service. Or the nt resource
kit has tools to turn an app into an nt service. And apparently the same
tools for creating a service in the nt 35 resource kit works for nt 4. The
resource kit for nt 35 is available at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt35/i386/ and is
approx 7 meg.
