[Snort-users] Fedora 20 Desktop, systemd, and automatic starting of snort on boot

Thank you, that gets me further.

For "systemctl status..." I get this:
Loaded: loaded (/etc/rc.d/init.d/snort)
Active: inactive (dead)

For "systemctl enable snort" I get this:
Snort.service is not a native service, redirecting to /sbin/chkconfig.
Executing /sbin/chkconfig snort on (stops here, goes back to pound

For "systemctl start snort": this works and snort starts up and the status
Loaded: loaded ....
Active: active (running)

Question: what does the "Snort.service is not a native service" mean, how
do we correct?

Thank you!
Steve Crow

Get the status:
systemctl status -l snort

Look at the "Loaded:" line for if it is disabled or enabled. This tells you
if it will be started at boot.

To enable:
systemctl enable snort

To start (until next boot where the enable/disable option determines the
systemctl start snort
