I recently flattened a troublesome device so that I could do some partitioning in Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS. I am using Snort 2.9.0.3 and Barnyard2 1.9.

The system will run for a little while and unfortunately the dmesg command does not give Date Time Grouping so I cannot tell exactly how long it has been down but here are the last few messages

[ 14.336812] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready
[ 14.365921] e1000: eth1 NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX
[ 14.366278] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready
[ 20.932011] eth0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 24.668257] eth1: no IPv6 routers present
[ 26.672279] device eth1 entered promiscuous mode
[57197.262641] __ratelimit: 21 callbacks suppressed

Thank you

Dwane
