1.  ./configure --help | grep inline

That doesn't show an "--enable-inline" option because that was dropped
with Snort 290.  (There is --enable-iniline-init-failopen, but that is
different).

2.  Read the Snort manual (snort_manual.pdf).  Find the section on
"Packet Acquisition".  There you will find mention of something called
a "DAQ".

3.  Read the DAQ tarball README.
