[Snort-users] Real noob question

The rules files need to be included in your snort config file. i.e.:

include $RULE_PATH/emerging.conf
include $RULE_PATH/emerging-botcc.rules
include $RULE_PATH/emerging-malware.rules
include $RULE_PATH/emerging-scan.rules
...
