Interesting. Using a /20 would change the subnet so that it has a
larger host address range: 172.16.0.1 - 172.16.15.254. Currently each
network is a /24. What about the broadcast address of my /24 networks
that would fall in the /21 scope? Is this just an easier way to cover
the network hosts without specifying the hosts individually? In that
case would a /21 work a little better? 172.16.0.1 - 172.16.7.254

Basically I'm just trying to understand why this works with snort. I
would rather use suppress rules but it seems tedious using multiple
rules to handle the networks in use.

Thanks
