I attended the Sourcefire training back in August and thought it was great.

In the Building an Open Source IDS class:

Although, you can find most of the info they put out in the classes in the
snort manual and various snort guides.  There is also a lot to be said for
the hands on labs included in the class.  You actually build a snort box
with mysql and acid.  I think one of the major added benefits of the class
is that they cover configuring the pre-processors, I got a lot more out of
that section of the class then I did reading the manual.  There is also a
section on rules and rule optimization, and tuning snort that give a lot of
extra benefit.

I had been working with Snort for about 6-9 months when I attended.
