I think as long as the path to gcc is before the path to cc in your $PATH environment variable you should be ok. I have both on my system, and before compiling, I just ensure that my PATH is in the right order. For example: >echo $PATH/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/ucb> If gcc resides in /usr/local/bin, the configure script will find gcc and be happy with it, even if cc lives in /usr/ucb because it will search your PATH variable and stop once it finds something appropriate. I Haven't had problems with compiling as long as do what I mentioned above. Hope this helps! :-) Dave >I believe in order to get GCC working on Solaris efficiently, once GCC has>been installed (from sunfreeware.com) using pkgadd, a symbolic link should>be created for GCC to CC. cd to /usr/ucb and issue a "rm -f cc" and then>create your link "ln -s /usr/local/bin/gcc cc".
