Saul,
Don't use the # in the command line, just try running
/etc/rc.d/init.d/snortd start

Make sure that snortd exists, and check to make sure it's pointed at the
proper location of the executable file....

Subject: [Snort-users] running snort

Ok, i followed every step on
http://www.snort.org/docs/snort-rh7-mysql-ACID-1-5.pdf but im having
trouble
with the 'snortd' script file.
Im logged as a root user, when I type '# /etc/rc.d/init.d/snortd start'
on
the command line I get an error message ": bad interpreter : No such
file or
directory"
I isolated the problem and Im pretty sure the script file its not
working
properly, I copied it into a text file and tried to use it but its
erroring
me out... help please!
