on the off change that ur using WIn32, IDSCenter suports alarming on alert.

one of the guys here tried something similaar with another program that
is
not quite as active.  After about a week he removed the sounds, it was
just too much, his office always had strange sounds coming from it, can 
you imagine a portscan setting off lacucaracha.au everytime it
registered
an alert. Insanity would not be far off.
