Well, that's very odd. I'm running RH7.2 as well. Here's the results:

# cd /usr/lib/mysql
# ls
.  ..  mysqld.sym
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.10 libmysqlclient.so.10
# ls -al
total 388
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root         4096 Feb  6 14:04 .
drwxr-xr-x   78 root     root        53248 Feb  6 12:01 ..
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           41 Feb  6 14:04
libmysqlclient.so.10 -> /usr/local/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.10
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       328367 Dec 22 20:30 mysqld.sym
# cd /working
# rpm -ivh snort-mysql+flexresp-1.8.3-5.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        libmysqlclient.so.10   is needed by
snort-mysql+flexresp-1.8.3-5snort

I am quite perplexed.
