Gentle Snorting users ;-)

I found the Snort page, courtesy of a friend, and tried to install it. I
followed the directions as per instructions, but unfortunately I seem
to be stuck.

The error I get is this:

root at ...2253...:/home/leandro/snort-1.7# make check
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/include/pcap -g -O2 -Wall

I'm running this on a 486DX-4 with 24 MB of RAM. The distro is
Slackware 2.2.16. This machine is my firewall for my humble home
network. I installed Libcap and Libnet, but alas, I must still be doing
something wrong.

Can someone kick me in the right direction?

I should mention that I did read the FAQ but I can't seem to find an
entry referring to the error. I'm sorry, it's probably right in my face,
but being a newbie, I'm still somewhat confused.

Thank you again.
leandro
