Sourcefire VRT Certified Snort Rules Update

Synopsis:
The Sourcefire VRT is aware of vulnerabilities affecting Apple mDNSresponder. This release also contains updated rules.

Details:
Apple mDNSresponder Buffer Overflow CVE-2007-3744:
A buffer overflow condition in mDNSresponder may allow an attacker to execute code on an affected system. The problem is present in the UPnP IGD (Internet Gateway Device Standardized Device Control Protocol) implementation.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified as SID 12357.

As a result of ongoing research, the Sourcefire VRT has added multiple rules to the spyware-put, netbios and exploit rule groups.
