[Snort-devel] Have I found a bug in Snort1.7?

Dear Sir or Madam,

In all that follows, the system used to build Snort was a Sparc20, running
Solaris2.7 and gcc2.95.2.

When I obtained a copy of Snort1.7 from www.snort.org, and attempted to
compile it configured with the '--enable-flexresp' switch, I would get
the following error messages:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -DBSD_COMP -I/usr/include -g -O2 -Wall -DENABLE_RESPONSE -c snort.c
snort.c: In function `ErrorMessage':
snort.c:2181: `__builtin_va_alist' undeclared (first use in this function)
snort.c:2181: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
snort.c:2181: for each function it appears in.)
snort.c:2179: warning: `ap' might be used uninitialized in this function
snort.c: In function `LogMessage':
snort.c:2209: `__builtin_va_alist' undeclared (first use in this function)
snort.c:2207: warning: `ap' might be used uninitialized in this function
snort.c: In function `FatalError':
snort.c:2239: `__builtin_va_alist' undeclared (first use in this function)
snort.c:2237: warning: `ap' might be used uninitialized in this function
make: *** [snort.o] Error 1

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

When I attempted to compile without the '--enable-flexresp' switch, the job
terminated normally. I had been able successfully to compile previous versions
of Snort with this option enabled without difficulty.

I was able to edit the Makefile manually to remove the '-I/usr/include' entry,
and thereafter Snort with '--enable-flexresp' compiled normally. I conclude
that there appears to be a bug in the 'configure' script having to do with
that option.
